Trempealeau NWR is one of seven refuges offering financial perk for voluntary use of non-toxic ammo

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) pilot program provides an incentive for hunters to use non-toxic bullets for deer hunting and bird shot for upland hunting. Martha Williams, USFWS director, said that while the USFWS is committed to allowing access to refuges, it also wants to minimize the exposure of wildlife to lead.
