During the Oct. 2 meeting of the Ohio Wildlife Council, members were provided the results of the Sandusky Fisheries Research Station’s Western Basin trawling figures for the 2024 walleye hatch.
While this peek gives some indication of the relative strength of the hatch that will provide catchable, legal 15-plus-inch fish in 2026, the final trawling index figure that is used to set quotas for managing the species will not be released until Ontario biologists provide their results.
