A $1.2 million project to remove the Carpentersville Dam in Illinois will create a 10.2-mile unimpeded stretch of the Fox River, a stretch that is expected to benefit both fish and recreational kayak and canoe users.
Work was scheduled to begin this month. The removal project is expected to be finished in November.
