Although they didn’t dredge up the Monongahela River’s legendary B-25 bomber, an Illinois-based nonprofit hauled about 120,000 pounds of other debris from the depths of the Three Rivers around Pittsburgh earlier this month.
The cleanup by Living Lands & Waters extracted at least 50 vehicles, including a VW Beetle, a Jeep, a tow truck with intact boom and winch, a station wagon, and numerous boats, bicycles and other wreckage from the Allegheny, Mon, and Ohio waterways.
