Steve Carney: Another story of stupidity, and plenty of suspended baitfish

This is how Carney’s boat’s drain plug is supposed to appear. It’s not how it appeared in the low light of the pre-dawn morning when the Carney craft nearly sunk at dockside.

When I look back at 45 years of guiding anglers, I have done some really dumb things. But recently, there was a notable addition to the list.
For background: In the past, I’ve dropped my boat off a roller trailer onto a cement ramp. And I’ve had a couple of boat fires. And I’ve had a trailer separate from my ball hitch on a major highway while I traveled at 70 mph. There have been countless other snafus that I will not divulge. But this recent one rates right up there.
