From bass to panfish, topwater lures dominate in June

Topwater lures are effective for multi-species fishing in June thanks to higher water temperatures that boost activity near the surface. Fresh insect hatches and more baitfish activity at the surface draw predatory fish up and enhance the effectiveness of topwater presentations. (Photo courtesy of Lindner Media Productions)

Summer is here, and with it comes a sense of consistency in fishing.
The unpredictability of spring is fading as weather patterns become more stable. Anglers typically welcome the month of June with open arms, because some of the best fishing of the year happens now, particularly for species such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and bluegills.
