First deer ever shot by 23-year-old is a record velvet whitetail in Minnesota

Kyle Bauer, of Owatonna, Minn., shot this buck Sept. 18, 2023, near Faribault, on his father’s property. It was the first deer he’d ever harvested, and it was his second season of hunting deer. Kyle Bauer, 23, from Owatonna, Minn., had a couple of weeks he’ll never forget in the middle of September 2023. Bauer married his wife, Hannah, on Sept. 23, then took a weeklong vacation to Costa Rica.
Those two events would take the cake for any person in a couple of weeks. How about a cherry and some sprinkles on top of the cake? The sprinkles were harvesting his first whitetail. And the cherry was that the deer is the Minnesota state record for whitetail typical archery velvet deer and likely top five in the world for the same category.
