Lake Traverse, straddling the border of South Dakota and Minnesota, experienced a significant fish kill discovered March 14, that resulted in the death of thousands of fish. Tests are ongoing to pinpoint the exact cause of the die-off, but, according to Chris Domeier, Minnesota DNR Ortonville area fisheries supervisor, the lake exhibited high oxygen levels throughout the winter.
