Sportsmen hearing the words “Chautauqua County” might immediately think of Chautauqua Lake, and with good reason. The big western New York water is regarded as one of the finest fisheries in the state, with walleyes, bass, muskellunge, and panfish attracting scores of anglers during both the open-water and ice-fishing seasons.
But Chautauqua County and, in fact, all of DEC’s Region 9 also offers some superb hunting for both big and small game.
