Wisconsin family deer camp carries 50-year heritage

The Welke family’s deer camp moved from the scrub oaks of northern Marinette County, Wis., to the stately oaks of north-central Crawford County over the past 50 years.

Wisconsin’s Dave Cook Memorial Shoot raises $30K to support scholarships for students

The Mayville Gun Club hosted the sixth annual David G. Cook Memorial Shooting for Scholarships sporting clays event Sept. 22 that will help support trade school students.
Cook, who succumbed to brain cancer in 2020, founded the event in 2018 to raise money to support scholarships for area students in the building trades. Cook’s family and friends have continued the event, which raised more than $30,000 this year, according to Cook’s widow, Kathy Cook.
