It’s no secret that bass are a fan-favorite throughout most of the freshwater scene – but what about ice fishing, more-specifically? We see their dominant presence during open water, and they sure appear to be readily available in most waters, but the term “dormant” comes to mind when discussing them during the winter months in the “Ice Belt” region.

Walt Dixon has been a long-time champion of bowhunting and hunting in general in New York State.
Dixon, 75, of Tully, in Onondaga County, is a charter member of the New York Bowhunters Inc. He played a key role in its original formation in 1991, was the group’s second president and did administrative work for the association for close to 20 years.
