MN Daily Update: Minnesota shotgun zone still exists for deer hunting season

The shotgun zone in southern Minnesota for the deer hunting season does still exist. The issue of eliminating the majority of the zone came up in the most recent legislative session, but it did not become law. The use of rifles is not permitted in that shotgun zone. (Photo by Steve Oehlenschlager)

You still need to use shotguns in the southern half of this state for firearms deer hunting this fall. Though legislation advanced that would have allowed rifles statewide during the deer season, it did not survive conference committees and it did not become law.
