Various hunting seasons have begun during the past few weekends, and the woodcock season will get under way Saturday.
According to the Minnesota DNR, the woodcock population has decreased steadily over the past two or three decades, but there’s plenty of forest habitat across the state to ensure a successful timberdoodle hunt. The DNR recently hosted a webinar on the topic of woodcock hunting, and Lindsey Shartell, the department’s northeast regional wildlife manager, led the conversation.
