Back in August of 2017 this newspaper published my letter saying that the best way to alleviate the budgetary issues facing Pennsylvania’s Game and Fish & Boat commissions was to consolidate the law enforcement branches of both agencies.
It even suggested adding the law enforcement branches of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ bureaus of state parks and forestry. The benefits of consolidation would be cost effective – one training facility, a standard training curriculum, one state-of-the-art radio system, an allocation of officers based on seasonal demands, increased officer safety and salary, benefits and retirement.
