Report shows how much fishing fuels Minnesota’s, nation’s economy

Ron Schara, longtime outdoors journalist and television personality who is president of MN-FISH, said the new American Sportfishing Association report “emphasizes what MN-FISH is trying to do: to get Gov. Tim Walz and the state Legislature to recognize” the important contribution fishing makes to the Minnesota’s economy. (Contributed photo)

A recent report produced by the American Sportfishing Association illustrates just how important sportfishing is as an economic engine for creating wealth and jobs, and pumping investments into land and water conservation in Minnesota and beyond.
Minnesota ranks fourth in “economic output,” with fishing generating $4.2 billion. That includes 28,120 jobs supported.
