Statewide muskie and St. Croix River seasons up for vote in Wisconsin

A proposal that will be up for debate for Wisconsin anglers during the 2023 spring hearings would eliminate the northern and southern muskie zones, merging them into one zone with an opening day the first Saturday in May, the same as the statewide game fish season. (Stock photo)

Proposals for a single muskie zone with one opening day, a lower walleye inland bag limit, and a year-round walleye/sauger season on the St. Croix River are just three of 11 statewide DNR proposed fishing rule changes that will be up for virtual-only citizen voting from noon April 10 through noon April 13.
