Northern tactic earns Canadian Jeff Gustafson Bassmaster Classic victory

The coveted Ray Scott Bassmaster Classic trophy is heavily adorned with famous southern anglers, but the 2023 version now carries the name of a northerner – and a Canadian at that.  Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson not only gave fellow Classic contenders on the Tennessee River system a lesson in precision finesse fishing, but did it with the “moping” tactics he’s perfected through fishing northern smallmouth waters for decades. The Kenora, Ontario pro led wire-to-wire, just as he did on the same fishery during a Bassmaster Elite event held there in 2021.
