It appears covering more water rather than working small areas has been best for catching salmon and steelhead offshore.
In addition to many limits of eaters being caught around the lake, some really big walleyes are showing up as well.
The water temps are really starting to fall and that has helped with the bite. More perch are being caught, and with cool and stable weather, it’s only going to get better in the coming weeks.
Make sure your fishing reel drags are in good working order.
Both have good and bad qualities, so it pays to have both in the boat because there are days when one trumps the other.
The most important thing right now is to keep your jig within six inches of the bottom of the lake.
