District 1 – Baudette area CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on the Roseau River and Lake of the Woods, with spotty fishing results. CO Corey Sura (Baudette) took several calls regarding nuisance bears and checked anglers fishing Lake of the Woods and the Rainy River. Enforcement action was taken for possession of illegal-length walleyes
While some bigger walleyes are being caught on deep, main-lake structure in some areas, weedy spots seem to be holding better numbers of fish
Anglers like the chain because the darker water can provide a little better daytime action than neighboring lakes.
