Trolling for trout and salmon on Lake Michigan and other Great Lakes may be one of the most favored methods of catching fish, but vertical jigging for lake trout is getting more and more popular every year. (USFWS)

For early ice-out fishing, few experiences can compare with taking a 5- to 8-pound lake trout on light line. The fish are aggressive biters and tasty fare in camp.
