After having a very slow opening day, my grandfather (Ronald) and uncle (Scott) connected at the same time on a great 6pt and 8 pt.
My cousin Lucas went into my grandfathers stand after tagging and cleaning the deer. My uncle Scott called and asked if I wanted to sit in grandpas stand, because we had a doe in heat and bucks chasing. So I packed my stuff and headed to the stand. My cousin Lucas took a big 8 pt last season, and it was 3 years for me. So who ever is longest out gets choice of seats.
So when I got to the stand, my cousin moved so I could sit in grandpas stand. I was sitting about an hour when my phone rang! It was my uncle Scott, his cabin is just over the hill from the tree-stand, he stays “ turn around and look up at the pines, I just saw a Big buck chasing a doe with a small buck!” .
So I turned and opened the door on the tree-stand, and to my surprise was this huge buck chasing a doe with a 4pt. The doe turned away into the pines, but made a crazy turn to run to the bottom of the stand! The 4 pt in hot pursuit! I couldn’t believe it! The big buck, an 11 pt, chased the 4pt and stopped 15 yds away! I was shaking, I could see his split time on the left.
I shot and he ran off, it took me a bit to call my uncle, I was now shacking like crazy.
He came with my Dad and grandfather. They determined the shot was a little back, and that we had to wait 8-12 hours to track. I couldn’t believe the emotional roller coaster. I was sick.
So the next morning we all got together and started a grid search. We walked about 70 yds, and I walked right into my biggest buck I. My life!!!!
I can’t believe I found it!! We had made a great memory with my grandfather, dad, uncles and cousin!
We had DEC age it, he is a 3.5 year old and green scored low 130’s!!!
