Iowa winter stocking effort puts trout in fisheries that wouldn’t support them during warmer months

Starting Jan. 13, the Iowa DNR will release trout in seven locations this winter in areas that would not support them during warmer months, the DNR said in a news release. Icing saltwater fishing: Texas closes areas along Gulf Coast to protect fish during freeze

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says the state has roughly 2 million acres of bays and estuaries vulnerable to freeze. It’s closing some fishing spots in deeper waters, where wildlife officials say surviving fish could become prone to capture.
