Public invited to meeting on fishing regs for Portage, Little Boy and Wabedo lakes in Cass County

The Minnesota DNR will hold a public meeting to provide information and ask for comments on a proposal to modify an existing catch-and-release regulation for largemouth and smallmouth bass to a 14- to 20-inch protected slot limit on Portage Lake (near Ten Mile).

The DNR will also be seeking comments on a proposal to implement an 18- to 26-inch protected slot limit on walleye on Little Boy and Wabedo lakes near Longville.

The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m., Sept. 27 at Woodrow Township Hall, 1133 County Road 11 NW, Hackensack.

The Portage Lake catch-and-release bass regulation has been in place since 1996. Little Boy and Wabedo lakes are currently managed with the statewide walleye regulation of six fish possession limit, one over 20 inches allowed in possession.
