Kristen Monroe: Looking ahead to competing in international match fishing tournament in Hungary in August (Video)
Attila Agh is a board member of the non-profit United States Angling Confederation (USAC). The USAC is the international sanctioning body for all USA national fishing teams.
Attila has been a competitive match angler since a young age. He was born and raised in Hungary. He has been in the U.S. for the past 17 years and currently resides in Connecticut. He once caught 1,000 fish during a three-hour match fishing tournament in Hungary. Everyone knows him over there and he is also known in the U.S. for his wins in match tournaments and carp fishing championships. I am honored and excited to have him as a coach to help me compete in my first international fishing tournament.
I am proud be part of the first-ever women’s team, which has been assembled by the USAC and is the granted authority to host and participate in World Championship Sport Fishing events through a varied network of international partnerships. My teammates are Barb Carey and Hannah Storehouse Hudson, both of Wisconsin, Elise De Villiers and Penelope Smit, both of Florida, and Shelly Holland of Minnesota. De Villiers and Smit are veteran match anglers, while Carey, Holland, Hudson, and myself will be competing in Hungary for the first time. We will represent the United States at the 24th annual Ladies’ Match Fishing World Championships in Szolnok, Hungary.
This will be an incredible adventure and a great challenge. I look forward to sharing more about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
