Adirondacks Fishing Report – January 22nd, 2016

Surprisingly, ice fishing activity remains stalled a bit due to conditions. Steve Koop at Adirondack Outdoor Co. in Lewis (Essex County) reports that one of the hottest spots of late – and one of the few hard-water options – has been Upper Saranac Lake, where smelt fishing has been good. Lake Champlain fishing remained on hold, with the exception of some bays on the Vermont side of the big lake. Some of the smaller waters up north were an option, and Chazy Lake anglers were picking up northern pike on ice that was thick enough to fish, but barely at last check.
