Metro Area Fishing Report – July 10th, 2015

NORTHEAST METRO

Bucktails or sucker minnows are triggering muskies on the shallow weedbeds of lakes Jarvis, Calhoun, and Rebecca. Hit the weeds on Coon Lake, Forest Lake, Turtle Lake, and Calhoun for bass. Drift sucker minnows on the 4- to 12-foot weedlines for pike on lakes Jane, Big Marine, Owasso, Green, and Long. Walleyes are hitting jigs and fatheads in 12 to 15 feet on Bone Lake, Vadnais Lake, and Clear Lake.

WEST METRO

Trolling crankbaits on 8- to 10-foot weedlines of Lake Auburn and Pierson Lake has produced pike. Hit thick weeds with topwater baits for bass on lakes Zumbra, Whaletail, Bavaria, and Steiger. Sunfish are in 10 to 12 feet on Lake Sarah and Lake Susan and the deep holes of the Minnesota River are holding walleyes and channel catfish.

LAKE WACONIA

Crappies are hitting in the 8- to 12-foot weeds around the island, Kegg’s Reef, Center Reef, and North Reef. A jig and fathead is producing walleyes in 14 to 22 feet on the east end of the island, Red’s Reef, Kegg’s Reef, and North Reef. The reefs are producing a few muskies.
