Tim Blodgett of Saratoga Tackle and Archery reports red-hot fishing on Saratoga Lake of late, primarily for largemouth bass. Just about any method – spinnerbaits, plastics, chatterbaits – was working in about 8 to 14 feet in the weeds. You’ll likely pick up some pickerel, perch and rock bass while targeting bass. Walleye fishing has been good as well.
On Lake George, the folks at Fish307 reported smallmouth bass have been hitting well in 10-25 feet of water and deeper, while laker action has been good for the downrigger crowd. A decent number of landlocked salmon was also reported.
The region’s trout streams were carrying plenty of water as of last week. Look for some good fishing when conditions allow, since waters have remained cool.
