Newton Lake: Bass fishing is good. Crappies are fair on minnows. Catfish good on liver and stinkbaits. Lake Shelbyville: Post-spawn crappies are being caught on crankbaits in about 16 feet of water. White bass also good, try trolling. Walleyes hitting Rapalas in 14 to 16 feet of water. Largemouth bass found in the main lake

AMERY AREA Crappies are hitting minnows in 6 to 10 feet on Bear Trap Lake, Goose Lake, Balsam Lake, and Echo Lake. These lakes are giving up sunfish and bass in shallower water. Walleyes continue to be caught with minnows in 8 to 13 feet on Lake Wapogasset, Pike Lake, North Twin Lake, and Balsam.
