Northern Lower Peninsula Fishing Report – January 30th, 2015

East Jordan Area

Bluegills and crappies are hitting on the Bellaire Chain of Lakes.  Walleye fishing has been good on Lake Charlevoix at Ironton, off Hemingway Point, and in front of the state park. The best action has come in water between 20 and 50 feet deep. Ciscoes have moved in, and the bite has been good in 40 to 60 feet of water, 40 feet down, off the state park. Good numbers of northern pike have been caught in the south arm of Charlevoix at East Jordan, but a lot of them have been undersized. Anglers report catching a lot of 6- to 8-inch walleyes this year, which are naturally produced fish, boding well for fishing over the next few years.
