South Central Pennsylvania Fishing Report – January 16th, 2015

Susquehanna River — Koinonia Guide Service reported bass up to 18-plus inches on jigs with soft plastics, plastic crawlers, or tubes, with a few also reported on hair jigs, and nice numbers of walleyes up to 20 inches were hitting on jigs and soft plastics or jigs and minnows. 

Little Juniata River (Huntingdon County) — Water was a little low and clear on Jan. 2, and TCO Fly Shop advised nymphing the deep, dark water with generic flies, such as Midge and Baetis patterns, and shrimp scuds in small sizes. Hatches included blue-winged olives (20-22) and midges (20-24).

Yellow Breeches Creek (Cumberland County) — Trout anglers were making nice catches on salmon eggs during the mild weather of the Christmas holiday.

Gifford Pinchot Lake (York County) — Anglers were catching mixed species on small jigs, tubes and small spoons off the bottom.

Conewago Creek (Adams County) — Anglers were catching trout on bead-head nymphs in the catch-and-release fly-fishing-only section during milder afternoons in December.

West Branch Codorus Creek (York County)  — Brown trout were hitting on spinners (size 4).
