Illinois ATV law allowing free use on private land signed in time for fall hunting seasons

Ralph LoosGov. Patt Quinn has signed a new state law that eliminates the registration fee for owners of ATVs who operate the vehicles on private property.

The also decreases some fees for ATVs used in local and state parks.

This new law "tweaked: the orignial 2012 registration law.

The $15 registration fee is cut to $10 for smaller ATVs — typically used by children. It also exempts golf carts, vehicles for disabled people, and ATVs used by government officials or farmers. ATVs used only on private land or in competitions are also exempt.

The law takes effect immediately.
