Northwest Minnesota Fishing Report – January 24th, 2014



Walleyes are hitting in the evenings at Lake Miltona and Lake Ida in 16 to 24 feet and at Lake Le Homme Dieu in 16 to 20 feet. Crappies remain suspended over 25 to 30 feet on Lake Darling and Le Homme Dieu, while sunfish are hitting in eight to 12 feet at Smith Lake and Lake Carlos.

Walleyes can be had early and late in the day at West Battle Lake in 20 to 25 feet, and Otter Tail Lake in 25 to 40 feet. Look for sunfish tight to the bottom and crappies suspended over 10 to 14 feet on Silver Lake, Blanche Lake, and Dead Lake. Tip ups and suckers have produced pike on the 15- to 18-foot weeds of West Battle and Otter Tail.

Look for sunfish along the 10- to 12-foot weedlines and crappies just off the weeds in 15 to 17 feet at Floyd Lake, Big Cormorant Lake, Sour Lake, Severson Lake, Deadshot Bay, and Big Detroit Lake. Walleyes have been most active during low-light periods in 18 to 22 feet at Lake Sallie, Lake Melissa, Big Cormorant, and Big Detroit. Spearing and angling for northern pike has been consistent on these same lakes in eight to 12 feet.
