Southwest Minnesota Fishing Report – September 6th, 2013

MANKATO AREA

The deep holes on the Minnesota River have started producing walleyes and catfish. Trolling crankbaits at a fast pace has been productive for picking off suspended walleyes over 20 feet of waer at Lake Washington. Second Point, Third Point, and Grassy Island on Washington are worth hitting for panfish. Most groups of goose hunters had two or three birds on opening day.

WILLMAR AREA

Bass, panfish, and northern pike are being caught on the 12- to 15-foot weedlines of lakes Henderson, Green, Diamond, Nest, Florida, and Eagle. Green continues to produce good numbers of walleyes on leeches and crawlers in 30 to 35 feet. Goose hunting reports have been limited and hunter numbers seem to be down.
