There’s an evening walleye bite on Lake Shagawa in six to eight feet with leeches or crawlers. Minnows are turning walleyes in 16 to 18 feet at Farm Lake and Garden Lake. Hit Birch Lake for crappies in 14 feet and the reefs on the west side of Basswood Lake are producing walleyes in 18 feet. Smallmouths are hitting leeches in shallow water at Moose Lake, Sucker Lake, and Carp Lake. Fish the power dam area on Fall Lake with leeches for walleyes. Lake trout reports are limited.

Look for walleyes to hit live bait on the 18- to 28-foot reef edges or wind-driven shorelines with sloping structure. Sugarbush Island into Namakan have been most productive. A jig and minnow also is producing walleyes over 30 to 35 feet and the bigger pike seem to have turned on in the bays.
