Northwest Minnesota Fishing Report – August 1st, 2013


Crawlers and leeches are triggering walleyes in 13 to 20 feet on West Battle Lake, Otter Tail Lake, Star Lake, and East Battle Lake. Look for crappies and sunfish in 10 to 13 feet on West Battle, Star, Fiske Lake, Fish Lake, and Donald Lake. Pike are hitting sucker minnows in 15 to 20 feet on Donald, Otter Tail, Fiske, and Silver Lake, while bass are hanging in the deep cabbage of most lakes. There’s some muskie activity in the morning hours on the weedlines of West Battle.

Leeches are turning walleyes in 17 to 21 feet at Big Detroit Lake, Lake Sallie, Lake Melissa, Big Cormorant Lake, and Middle Cormorant Lake. Sunfish are scattered in six to 20 feet and crappies are suspended over 20 to 22 feet on Big Detroit, Melissa, Middle Cormorant, Floyd Lake, Sour Lake, and Severson Lake. Look for muskies to hit CowGirls and BullDawgs at Big Detroit, Pelican Lake, and Beers Lake.
