North Central Pennsylvania Fishing Report – August 2nd, 2013

Spring Creek (Centre County) — As of July 21, flow was a good level and was clear with a nice green tint. The trico hatch was starting. Caddis and Cahills were providing some dry fly action, but nymphing was the better bet. Hatches included tricos (22-28), midges, tan caddis (14-16), Cahills (14-16) and craneflies (16-18).

Penns Creek (Union, Mifflin counties) — Water was a little high and off-color, but dropping, as of July 19. Temperatures were in the upper 60s, and anglers were advised to not fish when they hit 70, because in those conditions, trout cannot handle the stress. Hatches included Slate Drakes (12-14), Light Cahills (12-14), and Tan Caddis (14-16).
