Lake St. Clair

Shore ice is shot on Lake St. Clair, and ice fishing has pretty much ended. A few coyotes have been shot in rural Macomb and St. Clair counties.

Irish Hills Area

Shore ice has deteriorated on Devils, Wamplers, and other lakes in Jackson County, and ice fishing has stalled. Coyote hunting has been pretty good.

Lake Orion

Shore ice was in poor shape last week on inland lakes in Oakland County, and ice fishing had all but ended. Coyote hunting was decent.

Allegan Area

Ice is pulling away from shore and anglers should call ahead for updates. Bluegills have been caught on Duck Lake and Miner Lake, and perch are hitting on Reynolds. Steelhead fishing has been good on the Kalamazoo River below the Allegan Dam on bobbers and wax worms. Coyote hunting has slowed.

South Haven

Steelhead and brown trout have been hitting spawn and spoons in the Black River, and a few cohos have been caught by boat anglers plying the waters of Lake Michigan. Coyote hunting has been pretty good.

Kalamazoo Area

Ice conditions were poor around Kalamazoo last week, and ice anglers were grounded. There was open water on Maple Lake, and a couple boat anglers were out fishing, but there was no word on if they were catching anything. Coyote hunting remains pretty good.
