Perch fishing has been phenomenal on Lake Michigan in 50 to 60 feet of water, north and south of South Haven. Salmon are still trickling into the Black River, and good numbers of steelies and browns are being caught, too. EHD has been taking a toll on localized deer numbers, but hunting remains pretty good overall. Duck and goose hunting should continue to be pretty good, with lots of local birds around.
Pyles Port Hole, (269) 637-6720
Fishing has been pretty good off the pier on Lake Michigan. Anglers are catching kings, steelhead, and a few cohos. The Kalamazoo River is running low, but fishing has been fairly good for steelhead and a few salmon. Bluegill fishing has been good on North, Portage, Sugarloaf, and Huzzy lakes. Fish are moving into the weeds, and anglers are dialing in. A good perch bite has been reported on Eagle Lake and Lake Cora, and pike are hitting on Gull and Pine lakes. EHD is hitting the local deer herd pretty hard.
