Northeast Pennsylvania Fishing Report – October 12th, 2012

Lake Wallenpaupack (Pike County)

Cooler water temperatures spurred striped bass action, with herring drifted at Shuman and Calico points and Ironwood the ticket. Walleyes were reported on crawler harnesses in recent weeks, and smallmouth bass were taking crankbaits. Pickerel and northern pike were reported on live baits. An evening catfish bite was reported.

Peck’s Pond (Pike County)

Bass were taking soft plastic jerkbaits, minnows and jigs, and crankbaits fished around structure. Perch also were hitting.

Shohola Lake (Pike County)

Panfish and pickerel were reported in recent weeks.

Bushkill Creek (Pike, Monroe counties)

Trout were reported in the fly-fishing only area at Resica Falls. A stocking was slated for Oct. 4.

Mauch Chunk Lake (Carbon County)

Anglers were catching bass and pickerel off the pier on crawlers and minnows, while crappies and bluegills were biting on mealworms from the pier to the beach area. Chicken livers were working on catfish during daylight hours. Cooler water was making walleyes active at the end of September.

North Branch of Susquehanna River

A nice bass bite was reported in recent weeks as water temperatures drop.

Elmhurst, Curtis reservoirs (Lackawanna County)

Some large brown trout were being caught on live bait fished off the bottom in recent weeks.

Susquehanna River (Sullivan County)

Cooling water has spurred bass action, with topwater lures productive.

Delaware River

Smallmouth and largemouth bass were reported in recent weeks on crankbaits, jigs, minnows and other baits.
