Location:  North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center

County:  Yalobusha

The annual youth fishing rodeo will be held at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center at Enid on Saturday, May 19th. This free event is for children ages 15 and younger. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. The VEC pond will be stocked with catfish just for this youth activity. Young anglers should bring their own fishing equipment and bait along with a container to take their catch home. Food will be served and prizes will be awarded. This event is a great opportunity for young anglers to catch their first fish or to practice their fishing techniques before hitting the local lakes and ponds! At the rodeo, anglers will also have the opportunity to test their bowfishing skills in a presentation by the Bowfishing Association of Mississippi (BAM). Bowfishing is a sport that targets rough fish, including invasive species like the Asian carp. Adults are encouraged to bring their children, neighbors, and friends for a memorable morning of fishing fun. If you have any questions, call the NMFH Visitor Education Center at (662) 563-8068.
