Wind, rain, and lower temps limit panfish action in most areas – Northeast Report

This area received quite a bit of rain and some snow this week, the temperatures have been cool, and the panfish have been more difficult to find in shallow water as a result. The last panfish report worth noting was coming off Fish Lake, where crappies were being found suspended over 15 to 20 feet. The smelt run is in high gear and the rain has improved salmon fishing opportunities in the rivers.

Three to five inches of snow and some rain hit this area early in the week so there hasn’t been a lot of fishing going on. Steelhead fishing has been decent with spawn bags in the Brule River and Cascade River, but even this bite has been inconsistent and tends to vary from one day to the next.
