MT: FWP Seeks Public Comment On Open Water Fishing Contests

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on a proposed open water fishing contest, the Mister Pike Classic on Seeley and Salmon Lake, June 9-10.

Participants in this contest must comply with state fishing regulations, including daily and possession limits. Most contests require catch-and-release fishing and participants in these contests may not keep any fish.

FWP may approve, deny or approve fishing contests with conditions that may help to minimize fish mortality, regulate harvest, reduce user conflicts or provide for site maintenance as if needed.

The public may comment through April 9 in writing to FWP Fisheries Bureau, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT, 59620, or by email to begiddings@mt.gov.

For more on fishing contests in Montana, go to the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov. On the Fishing page click Montana Fishing Guide then Fishing Contests, or call 406-444-2449.
