OK: Fishing Report for August 3, 2011

This weekly fishing report is provided by the Oklahoma
Department of Wildlife Conservation.

CENTRAL

 

Arcadia: July 31. Elevation below normal. Channel and blue
catfish good on minnows and liver around points at night. Crappie
good on minnows and jigs around points early to mid-day and on
minnows at the enclosed docks at night. Report submitted by Chance
Whiteley, game warden stationed in Oklahoma County.

 

Hefner: August 1. Elevation below normal, water 85-94 and clear.
Largemouth bass fair on jigs and deep running crankbaits at 10-20
ft. along riprap. Smallmouth bass slow on jigs and deep running
crankbaits at 10-20 ft. along riprap. White bass fair on
crankbaits, grubs and spoons at 6-20 ft. all around the lake and
surfacing while chasing shad. Striped bass hybrids slow trolling
deep running crankbaits at 15-25 ft. Channel catfish fair on cut
bait and prepared bait at 12-25 ft. along rocky shorelines and the
dam. Blue catfish slow on cut bait, punchbait and worms at 15-30
ft. along rocky shorelines and the dam. Flathead catfish slow
trolling live bait and deep running crankbaits at 15-30 ft. along
the dam area. Crappie slow on minnows and jigs at 15-30 ft. along
the dam. Walleye fair trolling deep running crankbaits and drifting
night crawlers at 14-20 ft. along the southeast creek point
drop-offs and east lake points. Sunfish and bluegill good on worms
and small jigs along rocky banks. Report submitted by Lucky Lure

Overholser: July 31. Elevation 8 ft. below normal, water murky.
White bass slow to fair. Channel catfish fair on worms, cut liver
and cut shad along west side banks, points and docks. Catfish being
caught at the spillway early and late. Crappie slow to fair. Report
submitted by Joey Rushing, game warden stationed in Oklahoma and
Canadian counties.

 

Wes Watkins: August 1. Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 92
and clear. White bass good trolling the main lake. Channel catfish
fair on chicken liver. Crappie good on minnows around deep
structure early and late. Report submitted by Mike France, game
warden stationed in Pottawatomie County.

 

NORTHEAST

 

Carl Blackwell: July 31. Elevation 5 1/2 ft. below normal, water
low 80s and stained. Striped bass hybrids fair trolling crankbaits.
Catfish fair on various baits. Report submitted by Jon Cunningham,
game warden stationed in Payne County.

 

Copan: August 2. Elevation below normal. Boaters should use
caution while driving in areas that are shallow due to low water.
Blue and channel catfish fair on cut shad and worms early and late
on rod and reel and slow to fair on juglines. Report submitted by
Joe Alexander, game warden in Washington County.

 

Eucha: August 2. Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water 88 and
dingy. Largemouth bass fair on topwater baits early morning.
Bluegill fair on crickets and worms around grass beds. Report
submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa.

 

Ft. Gibson: August 1. Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water
stained. Boaters need to take precautions due to low water levels
and numerous stick ups that have never been visible before. Catfish
excellent on juglines baited with shad and sunfish in the main
channel; checking your lines often. Largemouth bass good on
crankbaits and spinnerbaits around submerged brush and structure.
White bass excellent trolling chrome spinnerbaits and small white
crankbaits. Crappie good on minnows and jigs around docks and brush
at 15-25 ft. early and late. Report submitted by Rick Stafford in

Grand: July 31. Elevation normal, water murky. Largemouth bass
good on crankbaits at 10-20 ft. around points. White bass good on
bright colored crankbaits. Channel catfish good on juglines and
trotlines baited with fresh cut bait. Crappie good on minnows and
bright colored jigs around structure. Report submitted by Kody
Moore, game warden stationed in Delaware County.

 

Grand: July 31. Elevation normal, water clear. Channel catfish
fair on juglines baited with cut and whole shad at 15 ft. Report
submitted by Jim Littlefield.

 

Greenleaf: August 1. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth
bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and worms along shorelines,
creek channels and brush structure. Channel catfish good on cut
bait and stinkbait on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs
along fishing docks and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark
Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

 

Hulah: August 2. Elevation below normal, water stained. Boaters
should use caution in areas that are shallow due to low water.
Catfish slow on cut shad and worms on bottom with rod and reel.
Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden in Washington
County.

 

Kaw: July 31. Catfish fair on juglines baited with fresh shad
around Coon Creek. White bass and striped bass hybrids good
drifting live shad and trolling shad like lures near the dam.
Catfish, striped bass hybrids and white bass good behind dam when
water is being released after dark. Report by David Rempe, game
warden in Grant and Kay counties.

 

Keystone: July 31. Water 90. White bass fair on rattle traps,
small jigs and spinnerbaits around points. Report submitted by
Karlin Bailey, game warden stationed in Creek County.

 

Lower Illinois: August 1. Elevation normal, water 51 and muddy.
Largemouth bass fair on topwater lures all along the river coves.
White bass slow on jigs and spinnerbaits at 1-2 ft. all along the
river. Striped bass slow on live shad at 1-2 ft. at the mouth of
the river. Channel catfish good on cut bait on bottom all along the
river. Crappie slow on jigs and spinnerbaits at 1-2 ft. all along
the river coves. Trout good fly-fishing the surface, on rooster
tails at 1-2 ft. and on Power Bait on bottom along the dam. Report

Oologah: July 31. Elevation 3/4 ft. below normal, water 85 and
murky on the south end and muddy on the north end. Crappie fair on
minnows and jigs at 15-20 ft. around brush piles. White bass fair
trolling shad colored crankbaits at 10-15 ft. off main lake points.
Blue and channel catfish fair on juglines baited with shad at 20
ft. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers
County.

 

Spavinaw: August 2. Elevation slightly below normal, water 89
and dingy. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits. Report submitted
by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa.

 

Tenkiller: August 1. Elevation 1/2 ft. below normal and steady,
water 89 and clear. Largemouth bass slow on soft plastic baits.
Catfish fair on flip-flops or juglines baited with cut bait or
shad. Sunfish good on night crawlers in or near the docks. Report
by Monte Brooks, Cookson Village Resort.

 

Webbers Falls: August 1. Elevation normal, water murky.
Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jig and worm
around brush structure, creek channels and riprap. Catfish good on
stinkbait and cut bait on bottom and drifting. Crappie fair on
minnows and jigs around brush structure and bridges. Report
submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee
County.

 

NORHTWEST

 

Canton: July 30. Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 91 and
clear. White bass and striped bass hybrids good on slabs and shad
near drop-offs. Channel catfish fair on cut bait and stinkbait
along the dam. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden
stationed in Blaine County.

 

Ft. Supply: August 1. Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water clear.
Channel catfish fair on stinkbait and cut bait all along the dam.
Report submitted by Mark Reichenberger, game warden stationed in
Woodward County.

 

SOUTHEAST

 

Arbuckle: July 30. Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 87 and
clear. Bass fair on Chug Bugs early morning and slow on minnows and
jigs at 20 ft. White bass being caught on topwater lures and
roadrunner type baits while chasing minnows and shad in open water.
Channel catfish being caught on doughbait in baited holes up Guy
Sandy Creek. Crappie being caught on blue and white grubs off docks
at dawn and around brush piles in the lake. Sunfish good on black
gnats or topwater poppers with fly-rods. Report submitted by Jack

Broken Bow: August 1. Water mid 80s and clear. Largemouth,
smallmouth and spotted bass good on topwater lures and Jitterbugs
early and late. Catfish fair on juglines and trotlines baited with
cut bait. Crappie good on minnows at 20-30 ft. around structure.
Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain
County.

 

Eufaula: August 1. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal, water
clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits around deep points.
White bass good around bridges at night. Crappie fair on minnows
and jigs under bridges during the day. Report submitted by Ed
Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.

 

Hugo: July 31. Elevation slightly below normal, water 87.
Crappie fair on minnows along the creek channels and drop-offs.
Catfish fair on cut bait. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and
soft plastics worked around the brush. Report submitted by Jay
Harvey, game warden stationed in Bryan County.

 

Konawa: August 1. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 95 and
clear. Largemouth bass fair on topwater lures at 5-10 ft. along
weed beds early and late. White bass fair on slabs and shad at
15-20 ft. along road beds. Channel catfish fair on stinkbait at
5-10 ft. around points. Report submitted by Daryl Howser, game
warden stationed in Seminole County.

 

McGee Creek: July 31. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 91 and
clear. Largemouth bass fair to good on spinnerbaits and swim baits
at 2-12 ft. and on topwater lures along the shorelines early and
late. Crappie fair at 8-20 ft. around cedar brush just off of main
creek channels. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden
stationed in Atoka County.

 

Murray: August 2. Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water 89 and
clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass good early morning, late
evening and at night. Largemouth, smallmouth and white bass
schooling late evening. Report submitted by Jeremy Brothers, game
warden stationed in Carter County.

 

Pine Creek: July 31. Elevation below normal, water murky. Bass
fair on crankbaits near points and roadbeds. Crappie good on
minnows and spoons in deeper water. Catfish good on juglines baited
with hot dogs or magic baits. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game
warden stationed in McCurtain County.

 

Robert S. Kerr: August 2. Elevation normal, water 90 and murky.
Catfish fair on juglines and trotlines baited with sunfish and
shad. Report submitted by Leland Sockey, game warden stationed in
Haskell County.

 

Sardis: July 30. Elevation 2 1/2 ft. below normal, water 91 and
murky. Crappie fair to good on minnows and jigs early morning.
Report submitted by Dane Polk, game warden stationed in Pushmataha
County.

 

Texoma: July 31. Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 86 and
clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass good on surface lures,
spinnerbaits and plastic combination baits at 5-20 ft. in the upper
creeks. Striped and white bass good on live bait, sassy shad and
some surface lures at 10-20 ft. from Platter Flats to the south and
west. Channel and blue catfish fair to good on live bait, worms and
stinkbait at 10-20 ft. from Platter Flats to the south and west.
Crappie fair to good on minnows, tube jigs and Power Baits at 5-15
ft. around the fish attractors and underwater brush. Sunfish good
on worms, small tube jigs and shrimp at 5-10 ft. around riprap and
the fish attractors. Paddlefish fair below the dam while

Wister: August 1. Elevation 1/2 ft. below normal, water murky.
Largemouth bass slow to fair on crankbaits, spinnerbaits and
topwater lures early and late. Catfish fair on juglines baited with
cut shad and liver. Report submitted by Randy Fennell, game warden
stationed in LeFlore County.

 

SOUTHWEST

 

Foss: August 1. Elevation 3 7/8 ft. below normal with gates
closed, water 80s and clear. Striped bass hybrids good along edges
in early morning and late evening while chasing shad. Walleye slow
to fair. Catfish good in channels. Report submitted by Eric Puyear,
