Young Cincinnati bass anglers headed to state tourney

Eight members of the Cincinnati Youth Bass Club will advance to the 2011 Bass Federation State Tournament for Ohio Youth, based on total points they accrued during this year's fishing season.

Central Ohio's O'Shaughnessy Reservoir will host the statewide tournament on Sunday, Aug. 21.

The eight finalist anglers are Jack Tamborski, Gabe Dubois, Harbor Lovin, Max Kaufman, Noah Meiers, Garrett Doerr, Chase Fisher and Nathan Poling.

A rain-drenched tournament at Rocky Fork Lake on July 9 concluded the club's regular schedule for 2011. A "fun tournament" is slated for Sept. 17 at Cowan Lake near Wilmington.

The club, which is open to boys and girls age 11 to 18, operates on a professional model with members accruing points at tournaments throughout the season. Extra points are available through participation in community service projects and stream cleanups, according to Angela Poling, club advisor.
