Do You Want More Public Hunting Land?

I am proud to work at Pheasants Forever. It’s an organization
built on the shoulders of passionate people dedicated to creating
habitat and ensuring the future of our hunting heritage. One area
of particular personal pride is Pheasants Forever’s ability to
acquire land for public hunting. To date, we have participated in
the acquisition of more than 1,200 different wildlife management
areas now open to public hunting across the nation’s pheasant
range.

One of the most efficient methods for acquiring these lands is
our Build a Wildlife Area program. Through grants in place with
state and federal natural resource agencies, we can match donations
to the Build a Wildlife Area campaign at least three times over.
You’ve probably read about the Build a Wildlife Area campaign in
the pages of Outdoor News before. ON editor Rob Drieslein helped
conceptualize the idea back in 2003, and ON Publisher Glenn Meyer
has donated to the campaign every year of its existence.

If you are a public lands hunter like me, it’s easy to see the
need for programs like Build a Wildlife Area. Just think about the
16 trucks surrounding the perimeter of your favorite WMA on the
pheasant opener. Each new parcel of public hunting land we add to
the landscape will help disperse that hunting pressure and provide
tomorrow’s youngsters with a better experience and more
opportunity.

You can make a $10 donation to the Build a Wildlife Area cause
by texting* “PF BAWA” to 27722. Remember, your $10 turns into $30
instantly through matching grants already in place. Thank You!
