Some hunters can begin applying for big game permits starting on
May 16, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
The following people may begin applying at 1 p.m. Central Time
on that date:
Deer hunters – Residents may apply for one permit in any draw
unit. These include Republican Mule Deer and Republican Whitetail
permits, as well as DeSoto December Muzzleloader permits.
Antelope hunters – Residents and eligible landowners may apply
for one buck or either-sex permit in available units. These include
all antelope firearm and muzzleloader permits.
Elk hunters – Residents and eligible landowners may apply for
one permit. This includes all elk permits.
Draw units are determined by demand on a unit’s permits. They

The drawing for permits will take place some time in June.
Starting on July 11 at 1 p.m. Central Time, hunters may purchase
any remaining deer, antelope or elk permits through the end of the
Unit maps and hunting regulations will be available to download
at OutdoorNebraska.org. The 2011 Big Game Guide soon will be
available online and in hard copy.
