Iowa landowners: get answers to your Conservation Reserve Program questions

The Iowa DNR is hosting meetings throughout the state to answer
landowners’ questions about the general Conservation Reserve
Program, or CRP.

Biologists from the DNR and Pheasants Forever will provide
information on the CRP bidding process, updated rental rates,
environmental and financial benefits of CRP, and mid-contract
management. Biologists can help with strategic planning to increase
overall yields while getting the trouble spots out of the field,
and selecting the planting mix that will help reach the landowner’s
goals.

Two meetings are designed to meet the needs of women landowners,
focusing more on grassland management with CRP as one option. These
meetings will be held April 1 in Chariton and April 5 in
Cherokee.

Check the DNR website at www.iowadnr.gov/crp.html for meeting times
and locations. Or call the DNR main phone at 515-281-5918 for the
meeting closest to your location.
