Moline, Ill. – The North American Duck and Goose Calling Championships will be held March 6-7 at Moline's Ramada Inn and Conference Center and will include three sanctioned regional qualifying events for the upcoming World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Ariz.
The contests are the North American Regional, Illinois River Regional and Northern Illinois Regional.
The March 6 schedule includes duck calling in two age divisions, Juniors (12 and under), Intermediates (13-16), plus two sanctioned regional duck calling contests. March 7 will feature goose calling in two youth age divisions, Juniors (12 and under), Intermediates (13-16), the Northern IL Regional duck and the IWA Masters Goose Calling Championship.
The 2009 winner of this Illinois River Regional, Mike Anderson, went on to win the World Duck Calling Championship. Ander-son will be at the event to judge the youth divisions and regional contests. The 2007 winner of this same regional, Jody Niccum, of Olathe, Kan, also won the World Championship that year, showing the extreme competition in these contests. Each of the eight individual contests will contain many of the top callers from the U.S. and Canada, including the current world champions, Mike Ritter, of Carterville, 2009 Junior World Goose Calling Champion, and Robbie Iverson, of Ottawa, 2009 World Goose Calling Champion.
There also will be a vendor's area with many of the top waterfowling experts selling and demonstrating the latest in decoys, calls, clothing, blinds and other waterfowl equipment.
The public is welcome, and there is no admission fee.
