Mitchell, S.D. (AP) – A state conservation officer says there
should be plenty of ducks around for this year’s waterfowl hunting
season.
State Game, Fish and Parks Department officials are confident
that wetter-than-usual conditions have resulted in a stronger duck
population in the state.
Chamberlain-based conservation officer Mark Ohm says the early
season should be fairly good.
The season began Sept. 26 in most of eastern South Dakota and
runs though Dec. 8. The season begins Oct. 10 in western South
Dakota and lasts through Jan. 14.
Hunters in the extreme southern and southeastern portions of the
state will be able to take aim at ducks from Oct. 10 to Dec. 22
