Upper Peninsula

Pickford Area

Walleye fishing has been decent in Raber Bay and on the
outskirts of the St. Marys Channel. Nightcrawler harnesses and
bottom bouncers are producing the best action. Good numbers of
salmon and lake trout are being boated at DeTour in 60 to 100 feet
of water. Bass fishing has been pretty good, and a fair number of
perch have been caught in Lake Huron around the Les Cheneaux

Drummond Island Area

Fishing has been slow around Drummond Island. A few perch are
hitting off the Yacht Haven Marina dock, but anglers are having to
sort through their catch to find the keepers. A few walleyes are
hitting crawler harnesses in Scott Bay. Bass fishing has been fair
around the islands in Scott and Whitney bays.

St. Ignace Area

Fishing has been slow around St. Ignace, and fishing pressure
has been light.

Curtis Area

Fishing has been good on Manistique Lakes. Bluegills are hitting
leaf worms fished along the weedbeds in South Manistique Lake, and
walleyes are hitting nightcrawlers on Big Manistique. Perch fishing
has been good on North Manistique. The fish are scattered and are
hitting minnows all over the lake. Bear season should be good.

Escanaba Area

Walleye fishing has been good on Lake Michigan’s Little Bay de
Noc. Anglers trolling crankbaits and drifting crawler harnesses are
catching fair numbers of fish in 20 to 35 feet of water. Bass
fishing has been good off Stonington and at the mouth of the Ford
River. Salmon action is picking up near the Ford River Buoy in 80
to 90 feet of water, 60 to 70 feet down.

Menominee Area

Salmon are hitting spoons trolled in Lake Michigan’s Green Bay
in 85 to 125 feet of water. The best action has been off Green
Island and at the mouth of the Menominee River. A couple walleyes
also are being caught in the bay. Bass fishing has been good in the
Menominee River. Crawlers and leeches are producing the best
results. Bears are hitting baits.

Bergland Area

Walleye fishing has improved on Lake Gogebic, but remains fair
at best. The perch bite has been slow. The best walleye action has
come to anglers fishing nightcrawler harnesses in 6 to 11 feet of
water along the weed edges.
